Service Description

No experience necessary - Try pottery without committing to a month-long course!

 

You will receive 90 minutes of hands-on one on one instruction per class session. The first class will be devoted to basic wheel throwing techniques, while the second class will be devoted to trimming on the wheel as well as surface design application.

All tools and supplies will be provided, a step by step demonstration will be included, and you will have the opportunity to walk away with finished ceramic works.

 

You will be given three 1 lb balls of clay from which you can create. Should you wish to keep what you make, one finished work is included in the class price. However, additional pieces (up to 3 total) can be finished for $10 a piece.

 

Your chosen piece(s) will be glazed and fired by Wyeth in the available color of your choosing. Your handcrafted work(s) of art will be finished and ready for pickup 4-5 weeks after your second session!

Course breakdown

Week 1

  • Studio, tools, and equipment overview

  • The timeline of pottery making

  • Wedging

  •  Centering, opening, and wall formation/pulling

  • Removing your work from the wheel

  • Studio cleanup 

Week 2

  • Working with leather hard surfaces

  • Trimming techniques 

  •  Carving and adding surface detail

  • Pulling handles

  • Attaching hand-built details to wares

  • Preparing wares for their first firing

Cancellation Policy

This small, three person, business runs solely on appointment based scheduling. Thus, your mindfulness and consideration of our time and resources is greatly appreciated.

Rescheduling

Lessons, classes, and drop-in time may be rescheduled one (1) time, free of charge, but must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the scheduled session. 

​

Cancellations

Lessons, classes, and drop-in time may be canceled for a full refund up until 1 week prior to the scheduled session. 

For cancellations made within 1 week of the session, there is a fee equal to 50% of the cost of the original booking. 

​

Workshop tickets are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.

​

Party Modifications

No refunds will be made for those in your party unable to attend. However, if desired, a voucher can be provided for a future communal session.
