Small Mixed Group Wheel Throwing Lesson
Each participant receives their own wheel, tools, and materials! No experience needed!
Service Description
No experience necessary - Try wheel throwing without committing to a multi-week course! This is a mixed group COMMUNAL session. As such, you will be learning alongside several other people, each with varying levels of skills and needs. If you are looking for a greater amount of hands-on help, or have specific ideas in mind of what you want to make, then a private session might be a better fit! All tools, supplies, and materials will be provided, a step by step demonstration will be included, and you will have the opportunity to walk away with finished ceramic wares. You will each be given three (3) 1lb balls of clay from which you can create, your own work station, pottery wheel, and tools. Absolutely no sharing! Why 1lb? This is because anything larger than that is hard to center, and must be worked up to over time. Aptly coined, many potters refer to it as the “universal starting weight”. While 1lb might not seem like very much clay, you can actually create just about anything from it; mugs, cups, vases, pasta bowls etc. In fact, most household wares are made from similar amounts of clay! Similarly, we have found three to be the magic number, as we encourage participants to slow down, lean into experiencing a new craft, and focus on quality over quantity. You will be responsible for FULL cleanup during your 90 minutes! Want more time at the wheel? Private sessions do not require full cleanup! Should you wish to keep what you make, one (1) finished work per person is included in the class price. However, additional pieces (up to 3 per person) can be finished for $10 per piece. This $10 firing fee for extra pieces kept, covers the cost associated with the extra labor, materials, and kiln space needed to finish these wares. That said, please note that the goal is to create and leave with one piece you enjoyed making, and look forward to utilizing at home. Additional pieces are not required to be purchased or kept, as the experience is intended to be all inclusive. Your chosen piece(s) will be cleaned up, glazed, and fired by us in the available color(s) of your choosing and ready for pick up in 6 weeks. By the time they are complete, they will be food, drink, microwave, dishwasher, and even oven safe! __________ Session breakdown: * 15-20 min walkthrough of the ceramic process + demo * 45 min of wheel time (we will be there every step of the way) * 10-min for clean up * 15 min for decorating, altering, + color selection

This business is owned and operated by one person, as well as a small selection of part-time instructors. As such, Pinch runs solely on appointment based scheduling, and your mindfulness + consideration of our time and resources is greatly appreciated. With that in mind, when you book a session with us, you are not only supporting a small business, but we are also holding a space for you within our (limited) booking calendar. This means that your scheduled time slot is no longer able to be booked by anyone else. Rescheduling: Lessons, classes, and drop-in time may be rescheduled one (1) time, free of charge, but must be done at least 48 hours prior to the start of the scheduled session. For cancellations made within 1 week (and prior to 48hrs) of the scheduled session, there is a fee equal to 50% of the cost of the original booking. Cancellations made within 48hrs of the scheduled session are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. Workshop tickets are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. Private events are non-refundable, but may be rescheduled if provided with notice of 10 0r more days. Party Modifications: No refunds will be made for those in your party unable to attend. However, if desired, a voucher can be provided for a future communal session, so long as we were notified that they would not be in attendance, prior to the start of the session. If we are not notified ahead of time, then they will be considered a no call, no show, and therefore they will no longer be eligible for a voucher.
